Doudou Diouf

.

The Traditional African religions are his passion and he has a lot to say about them. A true believer in the old African religion and  defender of the faith.

A little bit about the man and his shows
Doudou is a Senegalese Seereer who speak Seereer fluently. He did much of his schooling in Senegal  before moving to Italy were he now lives.

Since his youth, Doudou had always been interested in the Seereer religion and other Traditional African religions. In particular, he was always interested in and trying to understand the similarities and difference between these religions. Why Africans who have converted to the Abrahamic faiths always take stranger's names (i.e. Arab names) rather than retain their African names?  Why African are the only group of people who leave there traditions and religions yet,  willing to fight for other people's traditions/religions - who do not even respect or care for them?  However, Doudou was never satisfied with the answers, and his thirst for knowledge and to study these areas became a passion. As such, he decided to study African history and the hsitory of all the major religions - namely Traditional African religions and the Abrahamic religions of Christianity and Islam - both of which have infiltrated Black Africa. What he found was shocking, so shocking that, it caused him to leave Christianity in favour of Traditional African religion. His faith in the Traditional African religion  was an awakening. He felt like someone who has finally "arrived home after a long journey." He is now really in peace with himself and the Divine, and adheres to the tenets of the African faith. Dodou strongly believes that Africa will never be strong again like it was in the past if Africans continue to copy other people's spirituality and belief system rather than retaining and advancing their own, a heritage and legacy left behind by their forefathers.  Doudou believes that, we should be proud of our African heritage and be ourselves as true Africans. That is the only way we will ever be respected.

In his weekly show  "O nguim in win ball" (African religion) (which literally translates to "Black people's believe in God"), Doudou addresses the history of Traditional African religions and their spiritual and belief systems. The show's emphasis is on all Traditional African religions and not just the Seereer religion  (A ƭat Roog).
